My name is Carrie Fleischhacker. I have recently completed the Anchorage School District Phase I Administrative Internship program under the direction of Teresa Johnson. Additionally, I have completed program requirements for the Educational Leadership Program at the University of Alaska, Anchorage and will graduate in May 2001. While I am pursuing a K-12 certification, I believe my skills, abilities and experiences will be most effectively utilized in a secondary school setting.

   During the month of April 2001, I had the opportunity to complete an Administrative Internship at Mears Middle School under the supervision of Georgia Taton and Joel Roylance. While primarily working with discipline issues I also had the opportunity to work with the school talent show, track and field, the 4.0 honors luncheon, National Junior Honor Society Induction, Parent Report Card distribution as well as many other student events. I enjoyed my time at Mears Middle School and wish to thank those individuals who worked to make my experience a valuable one.

   As an administrator for the Anchorage School District, I will focus on those areas that support academic achievement: attendance, discipline, and curriculum issues. I am particularly interested in issues related to class scheduling and administration of the High School Graduation Qualifying Exam including remediation for those students who do not pass the Exam. I would like to continue involvement with student activities including extracurricular clubs and sports. Community support of the educational process is critical; I will focus on enhancing current School Business Partnerships and developing new resources.

   I am committed to the success of Anchorage School District students and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to apply my skills and talents in an administrative role.
